I’m having kind of a ‘blogger’s block’
this week. (Or maybe I should call it ‘writer’s blogck’). Creative juices ain’t
flowing, and nothing’s going ‘Ting!!’ in my head.
However, something caught my attention
recently, and I thought I’d share it with you guys. It’s nothing much, just a
couple of pictures.
The first pic here is of pilgrims
during the Hajj pilgrimage, performing one of the Hajj rituals called ‘stoning
the devil’. The wall you see here represents the Devil, and pilgrims are
required to pelt stones at it on the day of Eid-Al-Adha, or Bakreid, which was on 26th October this year.

The pic shown below is of the burning
of an effigy of Ravana, the demon king with ten heads. The burning takes place
on the evening of Dusshera, when people celebrate the victory of Lord Ram over
Ravana, which was on 24th October this year.

Both are representations of people
destroying the Evil One. The victory of good over bad. Both on days of
celebration and festivities. Both activities undertaken in large groups.
Look closer, and that’s what all of us
want, good over evil. Underneath, we’re all just the same.
