The weather has finally cleared up a
bit today, after two days of rain and really strong winds. I didn’t have
anything specific to post about, so I thought I’d chatter on about the little
things that have been going on this week :-).
I did a little shopping last weekend
and came home with a few things. I had passed on many of my cotton kurtas to my
sis, and threw away some that were really bad. Since kurtas are my wardrobe
staple, I decided to get some :-).
I opted for different prints for all
three. They’re all plain cotton and quite comfortable for regular wear :-).
Do you guys remember that I once
expressed a desire to own a mug like Charlie had in ‘Two and a Half Men’? Yes,
I expressed it here :-).
Well, I found this mug and though it’s
not identical, it was ‘like’ at first sight, and came home with me!
On the left, Charlie and his mug. On
the right, Fab’s new mug :-).

Eid was great, and I made Shilpa’s
version of Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, from here. This is a never-fail recipe, and it’s very mild and doesn’t
require too much chopping and dicing. If you’re non vegetarian, I suggest you
try it out on a weekend, paired with some coriander-dahi chutney, everyone’s
sure to love it!!
Ria Jobin, from Ria’s Collection, had a baking demo at her place and I was lucky I
could attend!! It was a great demo, and all of us picked up a load of useful
tips!! Ria was very, very patient and answered each and every one of our
queries!! You can see a picture of the attendees here at Ria’s blog, where you can also
see a pic of her adorable little son, who is a real cutie pie!!!
Ria made the most scrumptious brownies, and I just couldn’t forget
about them! So I made my own batch, which turned out quite well, though I think
I probably overcooked them a bit.
I also tried out my version of Nigella
Lawson’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake, with paneer instead of cream cheese. The outcome was well, ok,
but a bit chewy. I’ll have to experiment some more before I get it right!!
What else? Oh yeah, I’ve contributed a
couple of posts for Parentous, Blogadda’s new parenting blog. You can read my
posts here and here.
Also, Swapna has started a ‘Reading
Corner’ at The Mom Views, and I’ve contributed a guest post here.
Well, I guess that’s all for now. I’ve
been gorging on brownies as I’m typing this out, even though it’s really close
to lunchtime. I honestly wonder how avid bakers stay fit, I mean they probably
bake several times a week and their baked products are irresistible – how on
earth do they do it?? If anyone has their secret, pleeeaaase share it!!! I’ll
be here, munching on another brownie as I wait :-))).

I love the kurtas especially the third one...where did you buy it from?? Not a big fan of cheese cakes but your's looks lovely with all those pretty triple layers...and I avoid cooking for exactly the same reason...I gobble up more than necessary and add extra pounds :P
ReplyDeleteLovely guest posts ^_^

The first and third kurtas are from Max, the second is from Big Bazaar. Yeah, I've definitely put on weight because of all the over eating these past two weeks. Should stop making chocolate stuff :-)
DeleteI heart those bright colored Kurtas. So fresh! You need to start posting recipes Fab! The brownies and the cheesecake look yummilicious!! And if I haven't said it enough already THANKS a ton for the lovely guest post you did.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Swapna! I need to experiment a bit more and then I'll post the cheesecake recipe too!!
DeleteLove the second Kurta! And lucky you to get to see Ria in action :) About the cheesecake - it was chewy (most) probably because it was made with paneer. I once had a strawberry cheesecake made with paneer and it just wasn't like the one made with cream cheese. :(
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on your new mug!!
xxNeelu
I know, that definitely was a good opportunity! I thought I had probably used too much gelatine, and was planning to try it again with less. We don't get cream cheese here :(
DeletePaneer cake? Why not? Sounds really interesting!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend my friend.
I sure did, Ameena!!
DeleteMAX has some amazing kurtis...but they tend to fade after few washes...how I love to bake:).....I think the easiest way to not gain weight, is to courier those lovely cakes to lesser fortunate bloggers like me:D
ReplyDeleteVery true!!! My sister had a top which was ruined after the very first wash!! But they're quite cheap, so I wear them out as long as they look good and then I depromote them to indoor-wear :-). They're comfortable, so they work well indoors!!! For better quality, I trust Westside, Fabindia and Biba kurtis. W is also good, but on the costlier side.
DeleteThose brownies look delish Fabida! TBH not all of nigellas recipes are foolproof, same goes with joyofbaking :) but I realllllly like reading sweetapolita! Have a good weekend friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Poonam!! This is the first Nigella recipe that I've tried, although I loooovveee watching her cook on TV!!!
